The city’s generosity is benefiting Timmins and District Hospital.

TDH and city officials unveiled the official plaque for the new CT Scan in the John P. Larche Medical Imaging & Cardiopulmonary Department.

Timmins and District Hospital representatives joined Mayor Steve Black and other councillors for the plaque unveiling ceremony.

“The City of Timmins is pleased to have contributed towards ensuring access to vital diagnostic imagery for the physicians, specialists, and nearly 10,000 patients who rely on these services annually,” Mayor Black stated in a release.

“This donation will also contribute to the hospital’s ability to continue recruiting and retaining much-needed healthcare professionals, as well as to help the City of Timmins establish itself as a regional hub for leading-edge healthcare delivery.”

“We are very grateful for this funding which has allowed us to meet the growing needs of our patients and the community,” continued Guy Guindon, who is the Manager of the John P. Larche Medical Imaging & Cardiopulmonary Department.

“Thanks to the $1.5 million the Foundation received from the City of Timmins, we were able to purchase the Toshiba Aquilion One Vision, a high-end computerized tomography scanner which runs 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, performing 10,700 scans per year. We are very proud to say that we, at Timmins and District Hospital, are one of the most efficient CT scanners in Ontario and that is thanks to the City’s generous contribution,” added Guindon.

“The City of Timmins stepped up to the plate in a very significant way with their $1.5 million dollar investment in the health and welfare of the people in our community for the purchase of a new CT Scan,” added TADH Foundation Board Chair Pierre Lambert-Belanger.

“I am also pleased to announce that we were able to close the 2013-2016 Capital Campaign earlier this year on a very high note having met that most ambitious $15 million dollar fundraising goal,” continued Lambert-Belanger. “This would not have been possible without the generous support we received from our city with the heart of gold who are helping us build for tomorrow’s healthcare today,” he added.
