A 16-year old boy from Cochrane is facing numerous charges after being caught entering a vehicle last week.

OPP say last Monday morning (around 12:15am), the male was caught on Sixteenth Avenue in Cochrane, and falsely identified himself to avoid being arrested.

He was arrested and charged under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), thus cannot be named.

He faces the following offences:

  • Youth Mischief contrary to section 430(1)(c) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC)
  • Youth Personation with Intent to Avoid Arrest, Prosecution or Obstruct Justice contrary to section 403(1)(d) CC
  • Youth Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose contrary to section 88 CC
  • Youth Fail to Comply with Recognizance contrary to section 145(3) CC
  • Youth Attempt to Commit Theft contrary to section 463 CC
  • Youth Trespassing at Night contrary to section 177 CC

The accused was held for bail, released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on July 18 to answer to the charges.
