City council in Timmins has finally decided what to do about pedestrian traffic near St. Mary’s Gardens.

This comes after months of city council exploring options that would be best financially and logically.

They’ve gone from a regular crosswalk with lights, similar to several intersections in town—mostly near schools—to a three-way stop option that reached the by-law section as recently as last month.

However, council opted for the crossover, which is different than a regular crosswalk.

Manager of Engineering Pat Seguin said back in June that crossovers require all pedestrians to get fully across the road before a motorist can proceed.

A price tag is not known, and neither is an installation date.
