A Cochrane man is facing charges after his vehicle was partially submerged in a swamp in East Ferris near North Bay, while five others were dinged with drug offenses following a traffic stop on Highway 101.

North Bay OPP received word of a vehicle in a swamp back on August 4th in East Ferris Township. OPP located the vehicle and the driver later on and confirm there were no injuries sustained.

31-year old Kyle Muldrew of Cochrane was driving alone at the time. However, police charged him with:

  • Drive while ability impaired
  • Driving with over 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood

He is scheduled to appear in a North Bay court on September 5th.

Meantime, a traffic stop in Germain Township has resulted in charges for three men and two youth.

South Porcupine OPP say the stop was made in the early morning hours of August 12th. They seized cannabis resin, marijuana, money and methamphetamine with a total estimated value of $5,000.

18-year old Matthews Gage of Charlton faces five charges:

  • One count of Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule I for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule II for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule II

18-year old Logan Peddie of New Liskeard, 24-year old Dustin Smith of Englehart and two unidentified young offenders both face the same three counts:

  • One count of Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule I for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance – Schedule II for the Purpose of Trafficking

All five are due in a Timmins courtroom on October 24th.
