An investigation into a falling incident Timmins by the Special Investigations Unit has been terminated.

Director Tony Loparco says it happened in August, when Timmins Police were searching for a man to charge him in relation to a domestic-related incident.

They say on August 23rd, TPS officers went to a home they believed the man might be staying. While there, the man in question escaped and fled the area.

However on August 28th, the SIU says he was found in a hospital after sustaining “serious leg injuries.”

But it seems those injuries had nothing to do with police whatsoever.

“I have terminated the investigation into this incident as the man’s injuries resulted from his jumping from a roof and had nothing to do with his contact with the police,” says Loparco.

The SIU investigates incidents involving police, where there was either a death, serious injury or allegations of a sexual assault.
