The Timmins Rock (4-7-0-1) are struggling to find the twine early this season, and at the NOJHL Showcase in Sudbury, it was no different after losing 3-0 to Rayside-Balfour (7-4-0-0).

Eric Jackson made 25 saves in the setback.

This marks the fourth time the Rock have failed to find the scoresheet in 12 games this season.

They find themselves at the bottom of the NOJHL’s East Division with nine points on the year.

The Rock will finish off the showcase Wednesday with a 4:15pm tilt with the winless Espanola Express (0-11-0-0).

Meantime, the Cochrane Crunch (6-6-0-0) were on the positive side of a shutout in Sudbury, blanking the Blind River Beavers (6-7-1-0) 3-0. Taylor Unruh recorded the shutout, making 38 saves.

Marcus Blackned, Austin Stauffer and Kyle Herbster scored in the win.

The Crunch face the Soo Thunderbirds (9-3-1-0) Wednesday afternoon at 1:45pm.

And speaking of the T-Birds, they beat the Hearst Lumberjacks (5-3-0-0) Tuesday afternoon 3-2.

The Jacks got goals from Max Griffioen and Spencer Silver, while Artem Bortovskiy made 22 saves in the loss.

Hearst wraps up at the showcase Wednesday morning at 11:15am against the Soo Eagles (4-4-0-0).
