After spending much of the season in the basement of the NOJHL’s East Division, the Timmins Rock (8-12-0-1) suddenly find themselves among a chunk of divisional foes…and some momentum too.

They went two-for-two this weekend with a 4-1 Saturday win over the Elliot Lake Wildcats (9-14-1-0) and Sunday 5-1 win over the Hearst Lumberjacks (9-9-1-0).

Eric Jackson picked up wins in both contests, making 20 and 21 saves respectively.

Alex Brisson led the attack offensively, notching a goal Saturday and another two on Sunday. The Rock also got some offense from newcomers Riley Robitaille (a goal Saturday) and Jace Soroko (a goal Sunday).

Here’s goalie coach Marc Bisson and forward Alex Brisson following Sunday’s win:

Now, the Rock are just a point behind the French River Rapids (8-14-2-0) and have played three less games.

In addition, they trail the third place Cochrane Crunch (11-8-0-0) by just five points.

However, the Crunch have played two less games and will play in Hearst Wednesday before the Rock and Crunch clash in Cochrane Friday night at 7:30pm.
