UPDATE: Councillor Dubeau case pushed to Nov 28

City councillor Rick Dubeau was not present for his first appearance in court Tuesday morning in Timmins.

The proceedings lasted less than a minute, where it was revealed the defense needs to review “disclosure,” which is a copy of evidence that the Crown and police have collected to prosecute the case.

The case has been pushed over to November 28th. Dubeau will be represented by local lawyer Ben Dawkins.

Timmins city councillor Rick Dubeau will be in court Tuesday to answer a pair of charges.

Back on September 14th, Dubeau was arrested on a charge of “corruption of a municipal official” after it’s alleged the 54-year old “approached a business in Timmins and solicited a sales transaction that would benefit him personally in exchange for his assistance as a member of the Municipal Council.”

On October 12th, Timmins Police say Dubeau was further charged with “Breach of Trust by a Public Officer.”

Dubeau has previously claimed innocence in the case.

Charges have not been proven in court.
