A 27-year old Timmins man is facing charges.

Timmins Police say Saturday night around 9:30pm, they got word of a stolen vehicle and it was located less than an hour later. When trying to initiate a traffic stop, the vehicle in question fled and after a short pursuit, police called it off due to public safety.

Later on, the vehicle and driver were located near Highway 655 and Guiho Road and say the vehicle had been set on fire.

Justin Bertrand was arrested, and police note a subsequent search revealed a concealed weapon.  Bertrand faces nine charges:

  • Motor Vehicle Theft
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
  • Arson – Damage to Property
  • Flight from a Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Carry a Concealed Weapon
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

He was held in custody, pending a bail hearing that was set for Monday.
