Things are starting to look up again for the Timmins Rock.

In their only game of the weekend, they took a 2-1 double overtime win in Cochrane Friday night. Stewart Parnell scored the winner with 2:09 left in the second OT period.

CJ Bradburn also scored in the win, while Eli Hernandez replied for the Crunch.

Eric Jackson made 42 saves in the Rock’s first road win of the season. Taylor Unruh took the loss, making 27 saves.

The Rock also moved up to fifth in the NOJHL East Division, just a point ahead of the French River Rapids. The Rock also have two games in hand.

The Rock hit the road Thursday and Friday with dates in French River and Powassan.

The next home game is Saturday, November 25th against Kirkland Lake at 7:00pm.

CRUNCH ALSO MOVE UP
The Crunch, meantime, rebounded from that loss to the Rock with a 7-3 victory over the Hearst Lumberjacks Sunday evening.

The home side sported pink jerseys as part of their “Pink in the Rink” Night. The jerseys were auctioned off with all the proceeds going towards Lorrie O’Connor, the team’s Game Day Coordinator who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer.

Their top line had a monster night, combining for 10 points. Austin Stauffer notched a hat-trick and two helpers. Nick Flanders added a goal and a pair of helpers and Kyle Herbster put up a goal and an assist.

Thomas Hernandez and Alex Brisson also scored in the win. Shayne Battler made 28 saves in the win.

Austin Anselmo scored twice for the visitors and Shadow Reuben also scored a goal.

Nick Dube was pulled midway through the 2nd after giving up five goals on 21 shots. Jean-Marc Brisson stopped eight of 10 shots in relief.

The Crunch now have ownership of second place in the East with 27 points, a point ahead of Kirkland Lake and 10 points behind division-leading Powassan.

Cochrane is in Espanola, Blind River and French River this upcoming Friday through Sunday. Their next home game is Friday, November 24th and 7:30pm.

LUMBERJACKS SPLIT WEEKEND
Before their Sunday night defeat, the Lumberjacks were able to snag a pair of points via a 5-4 double overtime win Saturday over the Gold Miners.

Bradley Golant scored twice—including the game-winner—while Colin Boudreau also snagged a pair of goals.

Samuel Bourdages scored the other goal in the Jacks win.

Brisson was yanked late in the 2nd after giving up four goals on 18 shots. Dube came in and nabbed a victory in relief, stopping all 10 shots he faced.

The Lumberjacks sit fourth in the East with 21 points. The Jacks have 10 days off, and will play host to the Rock on Wednesday, November 22nd at 7:00pm.
