Rumour of weapons at Ross Beattie false, police say

Students and staff at R. Ross Beattie were placed under a hold and secure by Timmins Police, after reports of threats made by a student.

TPS Communications Coordinator Kate Cantin says the hold and secure was in place for a short time while “police spoke to the individual in question.”

“After investigation, it was determined that the purported threat may have been third party information, and may have been misconstrued,” she added.

Cantin also denounced a claim that a student may have been in possession of a weapon.

“No charges were laid or anything,” she said, “At no time were there weapons involved.”
