Seven months of no replies has Timmins city councillor Rick Dubeau looking for answers from the Integrity Commissioner.

He says he filed several complaints back on May 15th, but hasn’t gotten anything back.

Dubeau was requesting a vote of council to force the Commissioner to send a timeline of when the reports would be looked into, or at least find out why there’s been no contact.

Other councillors wondered if asking this was even allowed and City Clerk Steph Palmateer confirmed there was nothing they could do. He says the Integrity Commissioner acts independent of council, and they can’t direct the Commissioner in any way.

In the end, a vote was called and with Mayor Steve Black declaring a conflict and a 4-4 vote, the motion was defeated.
