For this year’s Nutrition Month campaign, a group of Timmins dietitians will be collaborating by hosting a Sports Nutrition Workshop for Parents, Coaches and Young Athletes.
Nutrition and hydration play an important role in young athletes’ health and sports performance for all levels of training and competition. By investing time to plan for healthy eating and hydration, young athletes in turn, get more out of their training, perform better during competition, refuel their bodies faster, and have less illness and injury.
As the trusted source of nutrition information, Registered Dietitians are excited to provide parents, coaches and young athletes with the tools they need to create healthier eating environments that support athletes to eat well at home, at school, on the road, in recreational centres etc. Some of the nutrition topics to be discussed include healthy eating for children and youth, sports nutrition and hydration, and healthy eating environment. The session will end with a Q & A panel with local dietitians.
The Porcupine Health Unit is located in Northeastern Ontario, serving the entire Cochrane District and Hornepayne, in the Algoma District. The main office is located in Timmins, Ontario, with branch offices in Cochrane, Hearst, Hornepayne, Iroquois Falls, Kapuskasing, Matheson, Moosonee and Smooth Rock Falls.
