**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE MEDIA RELEASE**

Once again this year, the Timmins Police Service is actively recruiting for a “Chief for a Day”.

The winner will be chosen among applicants who are in grades 4 to 6 at any Timmins primary school, English or French speaking.

Applicants must submit a one page answer to the essay question “What do you feel is the most important police function in your community?” to the Timmins Police Service by May 10th, 2018.

Applicants can drop off their application to the front desk at the Timmins Police building or via e-mail at marc.depatie@timmins.ca

The successful applicant will be at the helm of the Timmins Police Service for a day during Police Week which runs from May 13th to the 19th. Exact date will be determined.

Chief John Gauthier adds “I’m looking forward to having a fresh set of eyes take the reins for a day here at the Timmins Police Service. This will be a rewarding experience for the successful student chosen from those who apply”.

Duties will include touring all areas of police facilities, riding in a fully marked cruiser, participating in a media conference and having lunch with Chief John Gauthier and his staff.
