**DSB ONE MEDIA RELEASE**

The Schumacher Public School Champions Against Poverty is a group of students and staff whose goal is to make the school a better place for school families. Their first initiative was to create personal care kits for every family in the school.

They went to different businesses within the community to ask for donations of everyday items such as socks, shampoo, soap, combs/brushes, toothpaste and toothbrushes. The group received so many donations from the community that they were not only able to provide kits for every school family, but they were able to make a sizable donation to Project Love.

The group chose today to donate these items as the theme of the day for Mental Health Week is “Give”. Any extras will go towards the group’s next initiative. They will be starting a room full of clothing, hygiene, toys, books and every day supplies that students will be able to access for their family if needed. Donations for this room will be accepted for the remainder of the school year.

We would like to thank the students and staff who have volunteered and given up their time to help with this project. The SCHPS Champions Against Poverty would also like to thank the community members and businesses for all of their generosity and support of their ongoing projects.
