The Timmins Liberal Candidate for the upcoming Provincial Election officially launched his campaign last Friday.

Mickey Auger’s campaign for Liberal MP for the new Timmins-Riding focuses on funding road development and construction, monitoring gas prices in the north, and the development of the Ring of Fire.

Auger says, even with all the big projects the Liberals would undertake in Timmins, he still wants to stay connected to the people.

“It’s not about me, Mickey Auger,” he says. “It’s about helping the people. Seniors, young people. And get things done. Bring money into the community for infrastructure, for roads, businesses.”

Auger says staying close to the people in the community and understanding their needs is the key to leading a community.

“If I’m fortunate enough to be elected and be a member, I’d come back and I’d be available seven days a week,” Auger says. “I’d be going into businesses, talking to the people, […] see what they need, if there’s something I can do.”

Talking to the public is a key part of how Auger wants to represent Timmins.

“You have to be out there. Same thing with coffee shops and restaurants, talk to people. That’s where you get 95% of your information, it’s what the people want and what they need. And you have to be there for them.”

Auger says he’ll devote his life to the people of Timmins for four years if they give him the chance.

Auger joins NDP candidate Gilles Bisson, Northern Ontario Party candidate Gary Schaap, and PC candidate Yvan Genier in running for the Timmins riding in the upcoming provincial election, which takes place on June 7th.
