**CYSTIC FIBROSIS CANADA MEDIA RELEASE**

Cystic Fibrosis Canada is proud to announce the launch of the 2018 Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History. The Walk is our largest fundraising event, held every May during Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Month. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, May 27, 2018 in more than 70 locations across the country with thousands of participants raising funds for vital cystic fibrosis (CF) research, care and advocacy initiatives funded by Cystic Fibrosis Canada to help people with CF live longer, healthier lives.

Over the years, Cystic Fibrosis Canada has invested more than $244 million in leading cystic fibrosis research, innovation and care. As a result, the median age of survival of Canadians with CF is among the highest in the world at 53.3 years. We have come a long way, but there is still no cure or control for cystic fibrosis and according to the most recent data of the patients who lost their battle to CF in 2016, half were under 39 years of age. Canadians with cystic fibrosis continue to struggle to breathe every day and the funds raised from this year’s Walk will help us get closer to our goal.

There are many ways to get involved in the Walk to Make Cystic Fibrosis History. Donate, participate in the Timmins Walk at Hersey Lake, sponsor a walker, raise awareness and funds on social media or volunteer and fundraise through the Kinette Club of Timmins. Our Local walk registration is at 10am, the walk starts at 11, and there is an awards ceremony and free BBQ after the walk.

Cystic Fibrosis Canada relies on the generous support of our volunteers, donors and partners in our shared mission to end CF.
