**SCIENCE NORTH MEDIA RELEASE**

Registration for Science North Summer Science Camps is now open in Timmins as well as 35 different communities across Northern Ontario.

The programs provide a unique blend of hands-on science and fun for kids with new highlights every season. “We love having the chance to share our passion for science with kids across Northern Ontario,” says Cathy Stadder Wise, Senior Scientist – Camps and Programs at Science North. “Developing a positive attitude towards science starts at an early age, and we all know how important science and technology are in our everyday lives. Last year Science North had over 2900 registrations for science camp in 34 different communities, and we are always striving to reach as many kids as we can. It’s a thrill when we have campers who grew up in our programs sending their kids to science camp!”

The following Science Summer Camps are available in Timmins from July 9 – 13:

Kurious Kids (English)
Ages 5 to 6
‘Why mom? Why dad?’ Is this a part of your child’s regular vocabulary? This camp will have fun with 4 and 5 year olds who love to explore the world around them. We will squeeze, smell, sort, and smile as we work through answering some of those ‘Why’ questions of your Kurious Kid.

Girls’ Science (English)
Ages 6 to 8
Each day takes a look at a different science and highlights the contributions that women have made in that field. Whether space, geology, ocean research or physics, girls will have the chance to explore these worlds from their own perspectives with lots of hands – on activities.

Summer Science Camp (English)
Ages 7 to 10
Have your child join us in a smorgasbord of science that plays to children’s natural curiosity. Through hands – on activities and games, kids will discover and explore the world around them – whether the rocks in their backyard, or making their best paper airplane ever!

The following Science Summer Camps are available in Timmins from July 16 – 20:

Enfants Curieux (French)
Ages 5 to 6
