It’s not the most glamorous spot on the Stars and Thunder festival grounds, but the paramedic tent is one of the most important areas festival goers should know about.

Especially with a weekend of high temperatures ahead, it’s important that people know where to go if they get dehydrated or injure themselves.

The EMS team at Hollinger Park have been mostly treating blisters, dehydration and some heat stroke, but as Gary Gerard from the Cochrane District EMS tells us, with an ambulance parked nearby, they’re ready for anything.
“We have contingency plans,” Gerard said. “We have an ambulance parked approximately 50 yards away. And our paramedics are well trained and they’re ready to go.”

Gerard says people shouldn’t be shy about stopping by the paramedic tent if they have any questions, or just want to say “hi”. Gerard says his team are happy to help however they can.

“We’re here to help the general public,” Gerard said, “If you have any questions, it doesn’t have to be medical, if you need help in any way, shape or form. We can reach the police, we can reach fire. So if you need any help at all, don’t be shy. Come and talk to us and we’ll be more than happy to help you.”

Gary and the EMS paramedic team are on site at Hollinger Park for the rest of the festival, just look for the orange tent.
