**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police responded to an incident at a Cedar Street North apartment building in response to a disturbance during the evening hours of Monday, July 30th.

Upon arrival at the scene, Timmins Police officers located a person who had apparently suffered an assault with an edged weapon.

The victim was taken to Timmins and District Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers obtained a detailed description of the event and the suspect who had fled the scene prior to police arrival

Jeffrey HOOKIMAW, 35, of Timmins was arrested a day later and has been charged with:
– Assault with a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Mischief Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Being unlawfully in a Dwelling House contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for August 9th at Provincial Court in Timmins.
