**C.M. SHIELDS PUBLIC LIBRARY MEDIA RELEASE**

The C.M. Shields Branch of the Timmins Public Library, at 99 Bloor Avenue in South Porcupine, will be closed from Monday, September 10 to Monday, September 17, 2018 while new carpet is installed. It will reopen on Tuesday, September 18 at Noon.

During the closure, carpeting will be removed and replaced. Book shelves will need to be moved and a large portion of the book collection will be placed in an outside container while the contractor installs the new tiled carpet. The Library asks that patrons note the following information before and during the closure:

? Patrons are encouraged to borrow additional items in the weeks leading up to the closure, both to ensure that their reading needs are met during the closure and to help empty the book shelves.

? Overdue fines will not accumulate during the period of the closure and the book drop will remain open.

? Items that would have been due between September 10 and 17 will instead be due on Tuesday, September 18.

? As usual, patrons may continue to enjoy library services offered at the Main Branch, at 320 Second Avenue in Timmins.

“We are thrilled to have our library re-carpeted, as it is a well-loved and well-used library” said Louise Gaudette, Library Branch Head. “The community deserves a library that is kept in good condition. I’m confident that our patrons will understand that this short-term inconvenience will be well worth it in the long run.”
