Every day this week we are featuring platform highlights from the Ward Councillor candidates in the upcoming election. Our stations have reached out to each Councillor candidate to outline their platform for listeners. This is Ward 5 Councillor candidate Cory Robin’s submitted platform.

I am a lifelong Timmins resident and First Nations member. My goal in this term is to see the City of Timmins in a better financial position and address our social issues like homelessness and crime.

There are sustainable, responsible financial solutions to the issues facing our City; we must work together to find them.

Realign our Finances

Our financial position must be refocused on our obligations as a community – Infrastructure and services. We cannot continue to borrow from our future to maintain our current quality of life.

Support Our Community

Apply responsible funding solutions to address our homelessness issue. Our City must not ignore the hungry, or leave children out in the cold.

Diversify our Economy

We have a strong and rich mining legacy. Our City must be open to new and innovative ideas to attract jobs and young families. The exodus of our youth must end.

Plan for the Future

The City of Timmins is over 100 years old, we have the obligation and duty to be sure that our seniors and youth see the City as a vibrant place to live in the decades to come.
