**TIMMINS FIRE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE**


At 3:41 am on October 24, 2018 the Timmins Fire Department received a call for a structure fire at 137 Golden Avenue in South Porcupine, which was later identified as the Good Samaritan Inn. Timmins Fire Department dispatched immediately with 3 Stations upon the initial call; South Porcupine, Whitney and Timmins.

Upon arrival, one (1) resident was rescued from the blaze by paramedics that were already on scene. Firefighters proceeded to rescue a second resident from the fire.

Golden Avenue Public School has been shut down due to the power outage caused by the fire.
Several apparatus were mobilized for this fire, including two (2) aerial units. At the time of this release the fire is still not under control. There are currently about 40 firefighters on scene. The cause of the blaze has yet to be determined.

All roads surrounding the area of Golden Avenue will be closed until the scene has been secured and the fire is out.

More information will be made public over the remainder of the day.

The Timmins Fire Department is a composite Fire Department that operates 7 Fire Stations; 5 Volunteer Stations, 1 Composite Station and 1 Airport Station. The Fire Department is equipped with a total of 21 pieces of apparatus, 140 Volunteers Firefighters and 34 Career Firefighters.
