**MINISTRY OF NATURAL RESOURCES AND FORESTRY NEWS RELEASE**

Hunters stopped at a road-check station in Cochrane were found to be obeying Ontario’s hunting regulations.

Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officers and a Canine Services Unit conducted a road check at the Ministry of Transportation’s weigh scale station in the town of Cochrane on October 30, 2018. Conservation officers were checking for compliance with hunting regulations, particularly those related to the moose season. Also present were officers from the Ontario Provincial Police and enforcement staff from the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance, who were checking for compliance with other acts.

A total of 560 vehicles had a primary inspection, and 15 were sent to a secondary inspection by conservation officers. As a result, conservation officers checked 42 individuals, all from Ontario, during the nine-hour operation but laid no charges.

Conservation officers also used the opportunity to educate the public about Chronic Wasting Disease, and hunter safety.
