Wendy’s Restaurant is celebrating a milestone today. The fast-food chain has been in Timmins for 25 years today, and to celebrate, there are some special deals going on at the restaurant, located at 40 Waterloo Road.

Mark Torchia, the owner of Wendy’s and the President of the Torchia Group was given a special gift by the Timmins Chamber of Commerce to commemorate the 25th Anniversary. Torchia and his father opened the Wendy’s Restaurant 25 years ago today.

“It’s hard to believe that 25 years has gone by,” said Torchia.

There’s a lot to celebrate at Wendy’s today, including the official re-opening of the restaurant after renovations were completed. The store has a sleek new look, and, for today, is decorated with red and white balloons. Torchia says he is very happy with the new look of the store and he’s thankful for the support he’s gotten from the community.

“You know, great support from the City of Timmins,” he said, “And, you know, we’re pretty happy with our new renovation. It was time; our old store was tired. And we’re pretty pleased with the way it looks.”

To help mark the special occasion, proceeds from Wendy’s will be going to the Lord’s Kitchen today. Torchia says he believes strongly in giving back to the community.

“You know, we believe in giving back to the community,” Torchia said, “we’ve done that for 25 years. Whether it’s charitable donations or through Sports Kids.  […] We try and give back as much as we can to the community. That’s what it’s all about; they support us and we support them.”

If you want to help give back to the community, then come by Wendy’s this Wednesday and enjoy their Singles Special, on for $4.99 (reg. $9.99). Proceeds will be going to the Lord’s Kitchen. You can also enjoy the new renovated look of the restaurant, and enjoy the 25th Anniversary enthusiasm being shared by staff.

Torchia says he’s thankful for the people of Timmins for supporting the restaurant for so many years. He’s also thanking the staff of the restaurant for all they’ve contributed to its success.

“Most importantly, thank my staff,” he said, “Without them, we wouldn’t be where we are today. You know, they’re on the front line. And I really want to thank all my people, […] I mean, I don’t do this alone. It’s all a big team that makes this happen everyday.”
