**FARM TO FORK COMMITTEE NEWS RELEASE**

Timmins’ Farm to Fork Committee is looking to raise the first $1000 of the 2019 Feed It Forward Campaign to make local food accessible to low income families. Through this campaign, Timmins residents have a unique opportunity to provide direct support to clients of food banks and other emergency services. Donations will be used to provide Farm to Fork Market Dollars to participating families to be redeemed at both the Mountjoy and Urban Park farmers’ markets during the 2019 growing season.

“Market dollars harness the power of choice and the benefits of an inclusive community so that more people can enjoy fresh local food” says Jen Vachon, Executive Director of Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins, a partner in the collaborative community project.

Any and all contributions to the Feed It Forward campaign have a significant impact in our community and are greatly appreciated by the committee, partners in emergency services, and those who access the market dollars through this campaign.

Giving Tuesday is a global giving movement that has been driven by individuals, charities, businesses and communities across Canada and in countries around the world. Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, Giving Tuesday is the opening day of the giving season.

Giving Tuesday, the global day of generosity, continues to gain traction across the country in its sixth year, with thousands of partner organizations and millions of Canadians expected to take part.
