**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man stemming from an allegation of theft from a local grocery store yesterday evening (Nov 29th).

Timmins Police Service officers responded to a call for service where a suspect had allegedly filled a backpack with a number of six-packs of beer and proceeded to exit the store when he was confronted by a loss prevention officer.

A physical altercation between the two was halted by an off-duty police officer who attended and rendered assistance with the arrest of the suspect.

Timmins Police took the suspect into custody. All allegedly stolen items were recovered.
As a result of the incident, Edward NICKOSHIE, 42, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Utter Threats contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning (Nov 30th) at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
