**NORTHERN COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE**

Northern College is pleased to announce our continued efforts to consolidate and expand our international partnerships.

Earlier this week Northern College President Fred Gibbons and Timmins Mayor George Pirie met with a delegation from Henan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College, a post-secondary institution based in China.

The success of a current partnership with another Henan Province institution – Henan Economy and Trade Vocational College – has spurred partnership discussions from Henan Mechanical and Electrical Vocational College.

“Northern College has developed a strong reputation for its programs and curriculum in China which in turn is resulting in an expansion of international partnerships,” said Dr. Fred Gibbons, President and CEO. “The benefit of this reputation with our partner institutions is that we are now starting to see increasing numbers of Chinese students come to Northern College to complete or continue their studies.”

Northern College currently maintains nine joint partnerships with Chinese Institutions, to deliver Northern College programs, offering international students a chance to continue their educational careers in Canada. These partnerships allow access to the latest in modern teaching methods and hands on training they can’t access at home.

“One of the values of Ontario college education is its focus on applied learning – hands on learning if you will. Our programs in China carry this same approach to our Chinese students, resulting in graduates who are much better prepared for the workforce,” stated Gibbons.

Northern College is proud of international partnerships like these and will continue to build educational bridges around the globe, solidifying our reputation as a top tier educational institution both at home and abroad.
