Derek Seguin is a leader on and off the ice. He plays the game of hockey with heart, hustle, and passion. When you see “number 91” step on the ice, it’s hard not to notice.

Seguin will have the chance to get noticed once again at the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) Prospect game in Alberta. He and 40 of the top CJHL players in the country were selected to participate in this game, and have another shot at reaching every hockey players dream… The NHL.

“Its always been a dream of mine since I was a kid to make the NHL. I’m a Maple Leafs fan and it’s always been a dream of mine to throw on the Maple Leaf.”

Said Seguin, he knows the Leafs are a tough roster to crack but, “you never know”.

“It came out of the blue, after I got the call from my General Manager I hung up and searched up the game and that’s when I realized it was a pretty big thing.”

There’s a reason why it’s a big deal and why he talks about the NHL… While he is going to be on the ice playing the game he loves there will be a scouting presence. Not for the OHL but for the NHL. The NHL Central Scouting will be in attendance. This could very well be Seguin’s last crack at making his dream of playing in the NHL a reality. The last player to play in the NHL is Steve Sullivan who is now the Assistant General Manager of the Arizona Coyotes.

The CJHL All-Star Game will take place on January 22 2019, where all eyes will be on these top 40 CJHL players.
