**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On January 4, 2019, at approximately 12:53 a.m., members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on a Motorized Snow Vehicle (MSV) for an equipment violation on Taylor Avenue in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario.  

Police investigation revealed that the driver of the MSV was a disqualified driver.  

Joshua LEGACY, 30 years of age, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with;  

  • Driving while Disqualified – contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Drive motorized snow vehicle while licence suspended – contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act, and
  • Fail to have working rear light – contrary to the Motorized Snow Vehicles Act.

 

His vehicle was also impounded for 45 days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on February 7, 2019.

 

Further investigation revealed that the passenger of the MSV was in possession of a controlled substance. 

Kristen BEAUCHAMP, 21 years of age, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with;

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance X2 – contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, Ontario on January 31, 2019.
