**JAMES BAY OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On January 19, 2019, at approximately 3:00 p.m., members of the James Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to the theft of a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) from the Town of Longlac, Ontario. Police located the CMV travelling eastbound on Highway 11, towards the Town of Hearst, Ontario.

 

The male driver was subsequently arrested and police found the male to be in possession of a controlled substance.

 

Manmohit VIRK, 24-years-old, of Brampton, Ontario has been charged with the following offences:

 

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada (CC), and
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Heroin contrary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA).

 

He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane, Ontario, on January 23, 2019, to answer to the charges.
