**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man stemming from an incident at a Vipond Road residence which occurred during the evening hours of Saturday, January 26th.

Based on an investigation undertaken by the Timmins Police Service, it is alleged that an assaultive disturbance took place when a female person attended at the residence to have her male acquaintance leave with her.

The altercation is alleged to have taken place at the residence and spilled out into the driveway of the residence and portions of the public street as well.

Both the male and female victim managed to flee from the area in their vehicle.

The suspect is further alleged to have sent indecent messages to the female victim after the original altercation had ended.

The Timmins Police Service officers investigating these matters sought an arrest warrant for the suspect which was executed the next day.

As a result of the incident, Richard VAILLANCOURT, 42, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– 2 counts of Assault contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Send Indecent Communication contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody and is currently awaiting a bail hearing at Provincial Court in Timmins this morning to answer to the charge laid against him.
