**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man stemming from an incident at a Brunette Road retailer which occurred during the afternoon hours of Sunday, January 27th.

A man is alleged to have attended at the retailer and fled the store without paying for a number of items.

Responding Timmins Police Service officers were furnished with a detailed description of the suspect.

The suspect was located a short distance from the scene and taken into custody with the allegedly stolen goods.

Upon being arrested, the suspect is alleged to have provided a false name to the police.

It is further alleged the suspect has 7 outstanding warrants for this arrest.

As a result of the incident, Jeff HOOKIMAW, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Goods Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Personation With Intent contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused remains in police custody and is currently awaiting a bail hearing at Provincial Court in Timmins this morning to answer to the charge laid against him.
