There will be plenty of fun and interesting activities for everyone in our community to take part in this Family Day weekend. Celebrate by getting active and exploring different local venues and events, many of which are free to attend in Timmins.

Saturday, February 16:

— Head downtown Timmins for LaRonde’s Winter Carnival Market from 10am – 4pm.

– Join the Timmins Humane Society at Pet Value in the Timmins Square for an adoption and cupcake event with all funds raised going to the Timmins Humane Society
– Cedar Meadows Wildlife Tours take place at 3pm daily. Please call 705-268-5800 for more information
– Science Timmins Centre will be open

Sunday, February 17:

Monday, February 18:

– Mini Pop Kids Concert (Timmins) will have two showings. For more information, or to purchase tickets, please visit www.minipopkids.com
– Timmins Film Society presents Beautiful Boy, rated 18A, at 7pm. Physical tickets ($10 each) can be purchased in advance at the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre located at 325 Second Ave., at Alfie’s Cigar Store at 219 Third Ave., or at the door on the night of the show (cash only). – Timmins Fur Council’s Free Family Fishing Derby is now accepting registrations for the event being hosted on Porcupine Lake. This is open to kids 16 and under. All equipment will be provided. There will be free snacks, prizes and tons of fun! Slots available are: 10am to 11am, 11am to noon, noon to 1pm, and 1pm to 2pm. Spaces are limited, so first come, first served. – Timmins Rock takes on the Hearst Lumberjacks at 3pm at the McIntyre Arena. Tickets may be purchased at www.timminsrock.com
– Tie up your skates at the Sportsplex Arena as OPSEU once again sponsors a FREE Family Day skating event from 11am to noon
– Archie Dillon Sportsplex Indoor Pool also has a OPSEU sponsored FREE swim from 2:45pm to 3:45pm. The regular family swim will take place from 4pm to 5pm
