In a bid on who will lease the Confederation Recreation Complex in Timmins, one organization has come out on top.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, council voted to allow Rock and Gold Gymnastics to move ahead with occupying the Recreation Complex.

Rock and Gold was competing with Stella Nova Gymnastics for the bid. Stella Nova, which is looking to start up again, asked council to renew the club’s lease agreement at the facility last year. The decision was deferred and last month Rock and Gold approached council with a lease request for the space.

At the February 5th council meeting, council issued a request for proposal to allow the two gymnastics clubs to bid on the space.

Through that process, staff recommended the lease go to Stella Nova Gymnastics. But council voted on the item at Tuesday’s meeting and instead awarded the lease to Rock and Gold.
