**KIRKLAND LAKE OPP NEWS RELEASE**


On March 28, 2019, members of the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute in the Town of Kirkland Lake, Ontario. 

As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old male, from Kirkland Lake, Ontario, was charged with the following:  

 

  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm, contrary to section 267(b) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Assault, contrary to section 266 of the CC,
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Bodily Harm (two counts), contrary to section 264.1(1)(a) of the CC,
  • Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle Another Person, contrary to section 246(a) of the CC,
  • Forcible Confinement, contrary to section 279(2) of the CC, and
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC. 

 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake, Ontario.   

The OPP will not be releasing the name in order to protect the identity of the victim.
