**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of driving related charges stemming from a routine traffic stop during the early evening hours of Tuesday April 2nd.

While completing general patrol of the downtown core, a mechanical defect was noted on a vehicle being driven on Pine Street.

The vehicle was halted by the Timmins Police Service and it was determined that the driver was the subject of two concurrent driver’s licence suspensions and a criminal prohibition.

It was further determined that the driver was the subject of a valid arrest warrant stemming from previous unrelated matters.

A cursory search of his person yielded the recovery of a quantity of methamphetamine tablets.

As a result of the incident, Matthew (a.k.a. Mathieu) BEAUDOIN, 30, of South Porcupine, has been charged with:
– Operate Motor Vehicle While Prohibited contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Drive While Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– Fail to Have Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act
– Improper Number Plate Light contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody and is required to attend Provincial Court on April 30th to answer to the charges laid against him.
