**NORTHERN COLLEGE NEWS RELEASE**

Northern College is pleased to announce that its Practical Nursing program has passed
the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) program approval process, receiving a category one rating – the
highest possible.

The CNO conducts reviews every five years, to ensure safe nursing practices that are ethical and efficient
in the nursing category and or class for which they wish to register.

“The fact that Northern College has achieved a full program approval for the Practical Nursing Program
indicates that our program has demonstrated consistent and superior delivery in all aspects of our
program,” stated Sarah Campbell, Northern College’s Dean of Health Sciences and Emergency Services.
Assessments like the one conducted by the CNO helps to ensure that all nurses practicing in Ontario
meet the organizations mandate of protecting the public. This process begins with the programs
designed to make nurses practice ready.

“This includes curriculum, program outcomes, clinical learning opportunities, practice standards and
graduate exam scores,” stated Campbell. “Students that apply to the Practical Nursing Program at
Northern College can expect excellence in program delivery that is second to none in the Province, and
this results is yet another example of how we shine in post-secondary delivery for all students.”

Northern College is committed to providing the highest quality education, specifically designed to meet
or exceed the expectations of regulatory bodies like CNO.

“Consistently, we hear form our health care partners about the high caliber of our Practical Nursing
graduates, and that is gratifying. However, when the regulatory body for Practical Nursing commends
our program during an external review process, that is an attestation to the faculty and staff for the
diligence and care they put into making our program exemplary”, stated Fred Gibbons, President and
CEO of Northern College.

Northern College congratulates its Nursing faculty and staff for once again setting the highest of
standards to ensure the best education for its students.
