**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has arrested a number of persons stemming
from separate incidents involving persons allegedly wanted on the strength of arrest
warrants.
During the late early afternoon hours of Tuesday, June 25
th and while completing
patrols of the downtown core of South Porcupine, a Timmins Police Service officer
observed and recognized a male person known to the police as being wanted on the
strength of an arrest warrant.
Once the warrant was confirmed, the suspect was arrested by the Timmins Police
Service.

As a result of this incident, Justin ALBERT, 30, of Timmins, was taken into custody.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial
Court in Timmins to answer to the original charges laid against him.
In a separate incident during the evening hours of Tuesday, June 25th, and acting on
information received about the whereabouts of a wanted person, a Timmins Police
Service officer located and recognized a male person, known to the police as being
wanted on the strength of an arrest warrant.
Once the warrant was confirmed, the suspect was arrested by the Timmins Police
Service.

As a result of this incident, Jessie STAIRS, 28, of Timmins, was taken into custody.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial
Court in Timmins to answer to the original charge laid against him.
During the evening hours of Tuesday, June 25th and while completing general crime
abatement patrols of the downtown core of Timmins, a Timmins Police Service officer
located and recognized a male person known to the police as being wanted in regards
to an assault incident which occurred two days previous.

It is alleged that on the 23rd of June, the suspect engaged in an unprovoked assault on
a male person who was a roommate in a Fifth Avenue boarding house in Timmins.
The person assaulted required medical treatment at the Timmins and District Hospital
for the injuries he sustained during the assault, but was able to provide a full recollection
of events to the police in the course of their investigation into the matter.
As a result of this incident, Paul DUROCHER, 46, of Timmins, was taken into custody.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial
Court in Timmins to answer to the assault charge laid against him.
In a separate incident during the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 25th, it is alleged
that a male suspect entered onto a residential property on Cedar Street North and
engaged in activity that constituted a breach of his recognizance.

In the course of the investigation undertaken by the Timmins Police Service, the male
suspect was identified by means of a thorough review of video surveillance equipment.
Later in the day, and while completing general crime abatement patrol in the south end
of the city, a Timmins Police Service officer observed and recognized the male suspect.
The suspect, when approached and advised of being under arrest, is alleged to have
assaulted the officer and engaged in other resistive behaviors prior to eventually being
taken into custody.

As a result of this incident, Patrick MARTIN, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Breach of Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Assault Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Resist Peace Officer contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial
Court in Timmins to answer to the assault charge laid against him.
