**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section is continuing with its ongoing investigative efforts in regards to a single-vehicle collision involving a pedestrian which occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, July 17th, at the intersection of Pine Street and Algonquin Blvd in Timmins.


The 70-year-old male pedestrian involved in the collision sustained significant injury and succumbed to those injuries earlier today at the Timmins and District Hospital.


The family has asked that the name of the deceased not be made public by means of a Media Release and the Timmins Police Service is complying with that request.


The investigation is ongoing at this time and involves a comprehensive effort by Timmins Police Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) and the Timmins Police Forensic Identification Unit.


Intensive interviews and a thorough review of available video surveillance cameras is underway to assist with the investigation into the root cause of the collision.
