**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an incident which occurred during the afternoon hours of Sunday, July 28th.
On that date, the woman is alleged to have attended a local convenience store and collected a number of items and proceeded to leave the store without making attempts to pay for the items.

The incident was captured by means of video surveillance equipment.
Responding Timmins Police Service officers began an investigation and were able to positively identify the suspect involved in the theft. The suspect was located and arrested yesterday evening and taken into police custody.

Based on the ensuing investigation, Cheryl SUTHERLAND, 37, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Theft Under $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of Property Obtained by Crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a Bail Hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to address the charges laid against her.
