**CITY OF TIMMINS NEWS RELEASE**

A City of Timmins delegation led by Mayor George Pirie met yesterday evening with the Honourable Caroline Mulroney, Minister of Transportation at the Association of Municipalities of Ontario’s Annual Conference in Ottawa.

“We had a very positive meeting with Minister Mulroney,” said Mayor George Pirie. “The City of Timmins was able to impress upon the Minister the importance of the Connecting Link and the financial impact to the residents of the reconstruction of 21km of four lane highway through the core of the City. We discussed the key role our Connecting Link plays in moving industrial and provincial traffic and the need for funding to see the project through to completion.”

The City of Timmins has the longest Connecting Link roadway in Ontario at 21.35km and has reconstructed four sections of the highway as part of a 20 year, $100million+ infrastructure renewal project.
