**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**

The Timmins Police Service has charged an Iroquois Falls woman with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from a Motor Vehicle Collison which occurred at the intersection of Kirby and Balsam during the early evening hours of Saturday, August 31st.

Timmins Police Service officers responded to the scene to find an injured occupant of one of the vehicles involved.
That person was brought to Timmins and District Hospital for medical treatment for undetermined level of injury.
During the course of the investigation, it was determined that one the drivers had allegedly failed to stop at the Stop sign controlling the intersection.

That driver was subjected to comprehensive Field Sobriety Testing conducted by a Drug Recognition Expert officer (DRE)
Based on those results, the Timmins Police took the driver into custody in order to further complete their investigation. A quantity of a controlled substance was located incident to arrest.
Additionally, an inspection of the vehicle conducted by the Timmins Police led to the discovery of an improperly stored firearm.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, a 37 year old female resident of Iroquois Falls has been charged with:
– Impaired Operation of Motor Vehicle contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Possession of a Controlled Substance contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act
– Careless Storage of a Firearm contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
Traffic Collision investigators with the Timmins Police Service laid additional charges of:
– Disobey Stop Sign – Fail to Stop contrary to the Highway Traffic Act
– Fail to Have Valid Insurance Card contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused was released from police custody but must attend at Provincial Court in Timmins on September 10th to answer to the criminal and drug charges laid against her.
