The Timmins Rock are in a back to back situation this weekend. They’ll travel up the 655 on Saturday December 14 to take on a Cochrane Crunch team who is looking to get back into the win column. Then on Sunday December 15, it’s going to be one of the funnest games of the year… The Teddy Bear Toss!

This Teddy Bear Toss tradition or game all started back in Kamloops in 1993. The Kamloops Blazers came up with the idea and everyone in the Hockey world went “That looks fun” so, everyone slowly began to hold their own Teddy Bear Toss and it stuck around since then.

Last year, Timmins Rock fans manged to throw 828 stuffed animals over the glass after Josh Dickson scored the goal that triggered the toss. This was against the Cochrane Crunch, but this time around when the Rock score their first goal and stuffed animals go flying, it will once again be a special feeling. The Rock are taking on another rival team… the league leading Hearst LumberJacks.

Who ever scores the first goal for the Rock and triggers the rain of cute and fluffy, will be having the time of his life because for one, it’s an awesome thing to do, secondly it creates momentum, and last but not least you scored the goal against a rival team.

The Rock did end up losing that contest last year, but  this year they’ll look to redeem themselves. The Rock are going up against a red hot LumberJacks squad and will look to cool them off when they face off on Sunday December 15 at 2:00pm at the Mac.
