**TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE NEWS RELEASE**


The Timmins Police Service has charged a local man with a number of Criminal Code offences stemming from an assaultive altercation which occurred during the early evening hours of Sunday, December 29th at a Schumacher apartment building.

The Timmins Police Service responded to a complaint regarding a disturbance at a Father Les Costello Drive apartment, where a 51 year old man had been assaulted by a suspect brandishing a knife.
The victim was able to disarm the suspect and call for police assistance.

Based on the outcome of the investigation, Patrick ETHERINGTON, 36, of Timmins, has been charged with:
– Assault With a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– Fail to Comply With a Recognizance contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
– 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing slated for this morning at Provincial Court in Timmins to answer to the charges laid against him.
