**PORCUPINE HEALTH UNIT NEWS RELEASE**

DAILY COVID-19 UPDATE FOR TUESDAY, APRIL 7, 2020

There has been one new positive case in the PHU area in the last 24 hours: a Timmins area woman in her forties who is a contact of a known positive case, and was tested on Friday, April 3. She is in self-isolation. Please see www.phu.fyi/coronavirus for further information.

The current number of confirmed positive cases is now 31. COVID-19 is circulating in our area. Together, we can slow the spread of COVID-19 by making the effort to keep a physical distance between each other. Everyone must take precautions, even those who have not travelled.

Today the Porcupine Health Unit COVID-19 Information line is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Call the toll-free number (1-800-461-1818) or the PHU office in your community. See www.phu.fyi/offices for local contact numbers.

There are now COVID-19 Assessment Centres in Kapuskasing, Timmins, Cochrane and Iroquois Falls. Please note that you require an appointment. Complete the revised online Self-Assessment tool (https://covid-19.ontario.ca/self-assessment/#q0) and follow its directions.

Community transmission of COVID-19 is happening in our area.
* Stop the spread. COVID-19 can be deadly. The time to act is NOW.
* Everyone but essential workers need to stay home.
* Only go out if absolutely necessary to pick up groceries, prescriptions or go to a medical appointment.
* Ignoring self-isolation or physical distancing advice can have devastating effects and endanger lives.

Keep physically distant, but socially close. Stay home if you’re feeling ill. Wash your hands often. Stop the spread.

Stay home, stay well. We’re all in this together.
