Are you worried about mental health? You’re not alone. Over half of us believe that our mental health and of that of those around us has been negatively affected by COVID-19. Together, we have been dealing with the pandemic for months and it has affected many aspects of our lives.

Although a recent survey reported less people feeling anxiety or concern about contracting COVID-19, 1 in 5 people surveyed are continuing to experience depression and loneliness. While you can be close to those in your social circle, that may still not be enough. Practicing physical distancing can be difficult and may affect your mental health. It may leave you feeling lonely. Be sure to stay connected with your family, friends and colleagues. Building connections will support and enrich you every day. Use videochat, telephone, email or text to stay connected and to give and receive support during this tough time. Connect! Talk and listen. Be there. Feel connected.

If you are experiencing mental health challenges, reach out. Supports continue to be available. The Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) – Timiskaming Branch has a crisis line, 1-888-665-8888, which is available 24/7 from anywhere in the PHU area. Information about other available supports can be found on our mental health webpage.

Our COVID-19 Information line is open today from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call the toll-free number, 1-800-461-1818 or the PHU office in your community. See our office listings for local contact numbers.
