**LEFEBVRE FOUNDATION MEDIA RELEASE**

On May 1, Jimmy Lefebvre and his family left his parents’ home in Grande Prairie, Alberta to embark on a 5,700-kilometre walk across Canada in honour of his late father, Simon Lefebvre, who died of lung cancer in 2016. Their goal is to complete their walk where Simon was laid to rest in Tignish, PEI on August 31. Along the way, they are raising funds for the newly formed L Foundation that will be donated to programs and initiatives that provide support for those impacted by cancer. The Lefebvre’s believe they are the first family to do a fundraising walk across Canada in support of cancer research.

Jimmy and his family travelled along the Terry Fox Highway of Courage and walked through Thunder Bay to the Terry Fox Memorial. Fox aimed to run from coast to coast, however, he was forced to stop near Thunder Bay when his cancer had spread to his lungs. On July 28, which would have been Fox’s 60th birthday, the family will be passing through Gatineau, Quebec.

The Lefebvre family has been walking up to 60 kilometres per day for more than 80 days and hope to inspire others to do whatever they set their mind to, and never allow others to dictate what you’re able to accomplish.

“It was very emotional and inspiring for me to get to Thunder Bay. The first sign that we saw for the Terry Fox Highway of Courage was really inspiring and brought a tear to my eye. It was a truly beautiful moment and one of the highlights of the trip for me.”

The Lefebvre Foundation was created in memory of Simon Lefebvre, who died of cancer in 2016. The foundation’s goal is to raise endowment funds to help society become and live cancer free through the effective use of awareness, education, support and treatment for physical and mental health and well-being of those who are affected by cancer.

The Can-Survive Walk is a 5,700-kilometre walk being completed by Simon’s son, Jimmy Lefebvre. Lefebvre will walk 7.2 million steps from Grande Prairie, Alberta to Saint Louis, Prince Edward Island between May 1 and August 31, 2018.
