**Timmins Police Service News Release**


The Timmins Police Service – Traffic Section is investigating a single vehicle ATV collision that has resulted in loss of life.

The collision occurred during the afternoon hours of Sunday August 5th on a trail system located off of Pine street South in a remote location in Deloro Twp.

The responding Timmins Police Service officers were originally called to the scene to render assistance to the injured operator.

Once on the scene, they located the overturned 2006 Kawasaki ATV and the body of the apparent operator who had sustained a significant head injury.

The deceased has been identified as John Patrick LLOY, 53, of Timmins.

Next-of-kin notifications have been delivered by the Timmins Police Service.

The Timmins Police deployed officers from its Traffic Investigation Section and its Criminal Investigations Division who completed the preliminary aspects of the investigation along with officers from the Timmins Police – Forensic Identification Unit.

The Timmins Police have classified this incident to be a death by misadventure occurrence but have identified that the lack of use of an ATV helmet is a contributing factor to the degree of injury sustained by the deceased.

The scene of the collision has been released by the Timmins Police Service.

The arrangements for a post-mortem examination have yet to be confirmed as the Timmins

Police Service awaits further instruction from the Regional Coroner’s Office.
