Every day this week we are featuring platform highlights from the Ward Councillor candidates in the upcoming election. Our stations have reached out to each Councillor candidate to outline their platform for listeners. This is Ward 1 Councillor candidate Veronica Farrell’s submitted platform.

Hi, my name is Veronica Farrell and I am running for the position of Councillor in Ward One.  My husband is Larry and we raised two daughters in Mountjoy. Both girls met and married their spouses and also live in Mtj Twp.

I also sit on 4 Boards of the City; MRCA, Porcupine Health Unit, CDSSAB and Violence Against Women.    I sit on the Board Voluntarily for Timmins Library and Community Living Timmins.   Previously I sat on Board for Timmins Special Olympics as Chairperson.

One of my priorities is to have 2 people sit for Mtj Twp.  This is a very big area and would benefit with two Councillors. Two voices are better heard than one.

Timmins is becoming an aging Community and we have to find ways to bring in more employment as well as activities for people to enjoy. We often hear that there is nothing to do in Timmins.   I want to find ways to make this a place where people will want to stay and not leave.

Being retired gives me the time to work for the people in Mtj Twp at any time of the day or nite.  I give approximately 18-24 hours a month working with the people of Mtj and also sitting on the various boards that I am on.  When elected, I will continue to work for the people in our beautiful area.
